How to Get Your Rhode Island Motorcycle License

Hold a provisional or standard driver's license
You must already hold a Rhode Island provisional or standard driver's license before adding a motorcycle endorsement.
Complete the CCRI motorcycle safety course
A first-time applicant completes a motorcycle safety course through the Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI), combining online lectures with hands-on riding sessions.

Pass the knowledge test
Pass the 25-question motorcycle knowledge test (80%, 20 correct).
Pass the skills test
Schedule and pass a skills test to complete the endorsement process.
Receive your M endorsement
Once you pass, the motorcycle endorsement is added to your existing driver's license.
Follow helmet requirements
Wear a helmet until age 21, and separately for a full year from the date the endorsement was issued, regardless of age. Any passenger must wear a helmet regardless of age.
