Hold a valid Utah Class D license
You need a valid Utah Class D driver's license, at least 16 years old, before applying for a motorcycle permit.
Pass the written knowledge test
Pass the 25-question motorcycle knowledge test (80%, 20 correct) — half the state's 50-question regular permit test.
Hold the permit 2 months, or complete a safety course
A rider under 19 must hold the permit at least 2 months before the endorsement, unless a rider safety course waives that wait entirely.

Pass the skills test and pay the endorsement fee
