How to Get Your West Virginia Motorcycle License

  1. Choose a Class F or Class G license

  3. Consider a state-approved training course

    Completing and passing a state-approved motorcycle training course after the written test can waive the skills test.

  4. Otherwise, pass the skills test

    Without a qualifying course waiver, pass a separate skills test to complete the licensing process.

  5. Wear a DOT-certified helmet and eye protection

    Every operator and passenger must wear a helmet meeting Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 218 (FMVSS 218), plus compliant eye protection — West Virginia's helmet law has no age exception.
